My Lupus is an easy-to-use app that helps people with lupus compare different medication options and provides guidance on managing side effects. The app offers many personalizations including where patients are in their treatment, planning for a family, side effects patients want to avoid, and language (English or Spanish).

Key Findings

    • The MyLupus team prioritized the voices of women in underrepresented groups to help ensure that the decision aid reflects the lupus community. Over half of 301 participants in the randomized trial were Black and/or Hispanic/Latino and had a yearly income of less than $40,000, and over one third had a high school education or less.
    • Compared to a paper pamphlet, the MyLupus app helped patients be more informed about their treatment options and feel more confident that their medication choice aligned with their values.
    • The MyLupus team utilized patient input to create and test their app to ensure the app is user-friendly and relevant to patients’ daily lives.
