My Birth Control is an interactive website that aids people in finding contraception that works for them. Patients fill out a free guide that provides them with information about contraception options connected to their values, then they receive a printable summary of what options they preferred and questions to ask their healthcare providers. It is available in both English and Spanish.
Key Findings
- The trial testing the effectiveness of My Birth Control involved a young and diverse patient population. Nearly half (46%) of 758 participants were under 25 years old, and two-thirds (66%) identified as African American/Black, Asian or Pacific Islander, or Hispanic/Latino.
- Compared to standard clinic visits, people who used My Birth Control had a more positive healthcare experience, more knowledge about their contraceptive options, and greater satisfaction with the information they received. The tool did not affect whether they continued using contraception.
